Post-scrimmage notes
August 14, 2008
First off, freshman running back Chris Anderson is being held out while they await word from the NCAA Clearinghouse. He hasn’t practiced since Monday. Coaches can’t understand the holdup because he has all his stuff - test score, grades, classes - but the NCAA people don’t like to move quick on most things.
Maurice Greer (10 rushes, 56 yards, 3 TD) is the No. 2 guy, and Fernandus Edwards (9 rush, 61 yards) is No. 3. TJ Mitchell needs to redshirt, coaches say. DuJuan Harris and several others were held out.
Jamie Hampton was 14-22 for 119 yards.
Sam Glusman ended the scrimmage with a 45-yarder. Michael Taylor is out with a slight thigh injury, but he’s resting it for a few days. Blakeney said Glusman would be the kicker if the season started today. The hope is that Taylor gets back for kickoffs.
Freshman QB Dan Parker threw routes to freshman WR Josh Jarboe at the end of practice, working against a graduate assistant.
