GAMEDAY: FIU at Troy

DOTHAN EAGLE: Troy faces much-improved FIU
MIAMI HERALD: Improved FIU tries to stay in first place
Check the blog later if you’re not at the game. My internet connection isn’t good at Troy, but I might, might host a chat and/or send out TWITTER scoring updates (see link on the right) where you can get text messages or email alerts.
FIU (3-3, 2-0) at Troy (3-2, 2-0), 6 p.m., Movie Gallery Stadium, Troy
What to watch for: Is FIU for real, or another year away? Also, who will take snaps at QB for Troy, and how effective will they be?
Player to watch, FIU: Paul McCall, Jr., QB - T.Y. Hilton is the exciting playmaker, but FIU’s chances of winning will likely lie on McCall’s shoulders.
Player to watch, Troy: (Insert name here), QB - Levi Brown took the first reps in practice Wednesday on every drill. Tanner Jones has more Troy game experience. Jerrel Jernigan will likely take a snap here, a snap there. Dan Parker will dress out. Jonathan Chandler came to Troy as a quarterback. Heck, so did Bear Woods and Travis Boyd. All eyes are on this position and what Troy coaches want to do with it. They know, but they’re not saying.
What will happen: FIU’s going to be good for as long as they can keep head coach Mario Cristobal. He can recruit South Florida alone and as long as he runs a disciplined program, the Golden Panthers can be in the top half of the SBC. Right now, Troy’s got more experience and plenty of playmakers left on both sides of the ball. The Trojans get ahead early, give up a score or two late, and win. Similar to the first two Sun Belt games. This time, I think Troy adds a defensive or speical teams score. I also think FIU’s T.Y. Hilton scores somehow. TROY 34, FIU 20
