Drew’s Week 2 Sun Belt picks

September 05, 2008

I’ve got a couple of surprises in there.
Last week’s record: 8-1 (missed ASU’s win over Texas A&M)
Overall: 8-1

Florida International at Iowa (Big Ten Network) - 11:00 a.m. - I don’t believe FIU’s the worst team in the Sun Belt any more, but that doesn’t mean they’re going to win here. Iowa 38, FIU 13

UAB at Florida Atlantic - 3:00 p.m. - Surprise pick. FAU’s dealing with some tough injuries now, but they should be fine when conference play starts. UAB can’t stop anyone, but I’m not convinced FAU can at this point either. UAB 35, FAU 31

Texas Southern at Arkansas State - 6:00 p.m. - I guess I can pad my record by picking this one. Remember the subject of this rant? He’s now at Texas Southern. Arkansas State 52, Texas Southern 14.

Maryland at Middle Tennessee (CSS) - 6:00 p.m. - Blue Raiders almost beat Virginia at home last year, and they should have. This year’s Maryland team is no better than that Virginia team, so this time I think MTSU gets it done. Middle Tennessee 24, Maryland 17

Arkansas at Louisiana-Monroe - 6:00 p.m. - Don’t be confused. This game isn’t in Monroe, it’s in Little Rock. Despite Arkansas’ close call last week with some FCS school, they won’t lose this one. Arkansas 28, ULM 13

Tulsa at North Texas (KTXA) - 6:00 p.m. - Remember, the Mean Green aren’t very mean on defense. Tulsa 54, North Texas 17

WKU at Eastern Kentucky - 6:00 p.m. - Go with the Hilltoppers. WKU 31, EKU 17
