Visit the Point Mallard Park Complex where you can swim in the wave pool, play some golf, shop and camp all in one spot! The aquatic center features a towering sky pond, a speed slide, a body slide, a three-flume tube ride, an Olympic-size pool, a sandy beach, a picnic area and even an area exclusively for young children. Also at the Point Mallard Park is an indoor ice-skating rink that’s open year round. Plus, the golf course, batting cages and campgrounds make Point Mallard Park a destination the whole family will enjoy! Annual events at the Park include the Alabama Jubilee Hot-Air Balloon Classic in May, which features the oldest hot-air-balloon race in the mid-South. On the Fourth of July, stay at Point Mallard Park and enjoy the Spirit of America Festival that began as a response to anti-Vietnam-War protesters in 1967. Citizens of Decatur wanted to show their support for America’s servicemen and women and the annual, free, Fourth of July event and fireworks show was born.
