Audiences are continually impressed with the athleticism, talent and high-quality productions delivered by the Alabama Ballet. The Company performs year round at numerous venues in the Birmingham area, and the dancers and production staff represent some of the most talented performers and artists in the world. In fact, the Alabama Ballet is one of only six ballet companies worldwide, permitted by the Balanchine Trust to perform Balanchine’s classic ballet, the Nutcracker. The Company consists of 21 professional dancers and 24 apprentices, and is committed to presenting a wide range of performances, from classic to contemporary. Plus, the Company is dedicated to community outreach and can be seen throughout the year performing at numerous civic and charitable events. Education is another top priority of the Alabama Ballet, who hosts a yearly program called City Dance. Through the City Dance program, the Company is able to teach an eight-week dance workshop to students from inner-city schools. The 2007-2008 season marks the 26th year of performances for Alabama’s premier dance company, Alabama Ballet.
