Learn about ancient Alabama history at the Moundville Archaelogical Park. Eight hundred years ago, Moundville was occupied by Native American Indians and was the largest city in North America. A visit to this archeological center reveals secrets from the past through artifacts and interpretative exhibits. A walk through what was once the center of town leaves visitors awe-struck at the remains of what was once a well-planned and organized series of 28 “mounds” that served as platforms for the homes of nobles and civic and ceremonial structures.
