Tuskegee National Forest

Located in East Central Alabama, the land was once eroded farmland. Thanks to many restorative efforts, in 1959 President Eisenhower proclaimed the land a National Forest. Today, visitors enjoy hiking the 8.5-mile Bartram Trail, which includes a variety of wildflowers, trees and wildlife. Horseback riding is also a popular sport at the Tuskegee National Forest with the inclusion of the 14-mile, Destiny/Bedford Cash Memorial Trail. The Park also has primitive and hunter’s campgrounds that are open year round. At the Taska Recreation Area, families can enjoy picnicking as well as a log-cabin replica of Booker T. Washington’s birthplace.
