Take a stroll, ride a bike, or have a picnic on the Columbus Riverwalk, and enjoy beautiful scenery mingled with history. The Riverwalk is a linear park that stretches almost 20 miles along the Chattahoochee River, a river that has served humanity since the days before written history. Spanish explorers, Native American Indians, and later on, steamboats carrying cotton have all traveled its waters. Today people enjoy canoeing, kayaking, fishing, boating and skiing on the Chattahoochee River. If you are making your way down the Columbus Riverwalk, you will also encounter wildlife and beautifully kept landscapes. The Riverwalk is completely paved and well lit, and is within easy distance of some of the City’s best dinning, shopping and entertainment. Visitors can also look for special events throughout the year such as the Riverwalk Thunder on the Hooch Fourth of July festival that has fireworks, amusement rides, food and live entertainment.
