The Columbus Museum is the largest art and history museum in Georgia. The Museum is noted in particular for its exemplary collection of historical data, documents, artifacts and exhibits that convey the development of the region. Visitors can trace the growth of the Chattahoochee Valley area with the Museum’s regional-history art gallery and award-winning film. Another noteworthy collection is the 18th and 19th-century American-art collection, representing close to 300 years of drawings and paintings. In all, the Museum houses 15 permanent and traveling exhibits, including decorative arts, Civil-War-era artifacts, and modern and contemporary American art. The Museum also regularly hosts classes and events, giving adults, children and families the opportunity to learn more about the world of art and history.
