Founded in 1889, Zoo Atlanta is dedicated to educating and inspiring visitors to value wildlife and help safeguard species through conservation. The staff constantly works to improve the quality of life for its captive animals by creating habitats that are similar to their natural setting in the wild. Exhibits include the African Plains where visitors will see zebras, giraffes and gazelles. Reptiles, birds, monkeys and more can also be observed in a realistically “natural” setting. Zoo Atlanta also strives to educate young audiences through exhibits such as the Petting Zoo and Wild Like Me. Wild Like Me is an indoor play area where kids learn about the animal world in a whole new way. Have you ever wondered how your strength matches up to an elephant’s? Kids can find out at Wild Like Me. Other attractions include a rock climbing wall, a carousel and a train.
