Gone With the Wind author Margaret Mitchell’s spirit lives in Atlanta where you can take a tour of the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum. Exclusive photographs, and exhibits tell the life-story of Margaret Mitchell and document her experience with her Pulitzer-Prize winning novel, Gone With the Wind. Visitors can read her childhood writings, walk through the apartment where she wrote her famous novel and visit a museum devoted to the movie production. The Movie Museum includes authentic props from the Hollywood production. The Museum also has a gift shop where visitors can purchase one-of-a-kind treasures such as a Margaret Mitchell House Christmas Ornament. Visitors can also see Margaret Mitchell’s final resting place at the historic Oakland Cemetery, located just four miles away. Guided walking tours of the historic cemetery are available from mid-March to late-November and begin at the Visitors Center.
