Visit the Living History Museum where actors and buildings will take you back in time to 1850. Homes, stores, workshops, churches, a courthouse, a school and more — Westville has over 30 authentic pre-Civil-War buildings. More than architecture, visitors can watch as a woodworker makes a stool from a tree, taste hearth-cooked food, and talk to people dressed in authentic 1850s clothing about what life is like in this era. Special events are also held throughout the year, such as the Spring Festival, where visitors will enjoy crafts, games, music and fun for the whole family. The Independence Day Festival is also popular. At this event, visitors can watch a vintage baseball game, eat Southern-style barbecue, and play mid-nineteenth-century games such as three-legged races and sack races. The Museum is open year round so that visitors can experience life in the 1850s during all seasons of the year.
