If you have never been there or if it’s been a while, plan to spend the day at the ever-growing and ever-changing High Museum, the leading art museum in the Southeast. In 2005, the Museum increased its size to 312,000 square feet and now includes a Village for the Arts. The Village for the Arts hosts live music and theater performances, and has a full-service restaurant and café. The High Museum also promotes the art of cinema through programs that feature classic, independent and international films. Plus, the Museum houses over 11,000 works of art including 19th and 20th century American art, a vast collection of European paintings, and growing collections of African-American art, photography, modern and contemporary art, works by Southern artist, folk art, and works by self-taught artists.
