Cahaba Canoe Trip
Cahaba River Society 2717 7th Avenue South Suite 205 Birmingham, Alabama 35233 205.322.5326 www.cahabariversociety.org There are five ways to paddle your way down the Cahaba River on a Canoe Trip sponsored by the Cahaba River Society. Take an Oxbow Trip, which explores one of the naturally occurring lakes, or “oxbows” created by the Cahaba River. On an Oxbow Trip, paddlers will see beautiful Tupelo and Cyprus trees covered in Spanish moss, as well as many migrant-bird species. Lily Trips are an especially popular, seasonal canoe trip. Participants of a Lily Trip will witness the bloom of the Cahaba Lily in its natural setting — throughout the waters of the Cahaba. An opportunity to stop and explore some of the least-seen portions of the Cahaba River is available on a Day Trip. Even more unique are the Moonlight Trips down the Cahaba where adventurers witness the scurry of nocturnal wildlife and may even see glowworms. Immerse yourself completely in the Cahaba River by taking an Overnight Trip. On an Overnight Trip, paddlers will spend two full days on the river and spend the night in a tent on its shores. Each river trip departs from Birmingham.
