Have a cocktail and enjoy live music at the Flora-Bama Lounge, “the last great American roadhouse.” On the last full weekend of April each year, the Flora-Bama hosts the Interstate Mullet Toss Competition. A mullet is a fish that is indigenous to the Gulf Coast. Participants line up on the beach and “toss” a one-pound mullet from within a 10-foot circle.  The circle is located in Alabama. Outside the circle is the Florida state line, thus, the “interstate” mullet toss. Why toss a mullet? Money is donated to local youth charities for every fish that is thrown. Plus, the mullet toss is an excuse to enjoy a weekend-long party at the Flora-Bama. Fun activities, exceptional live music and good food are all a part of the Mullet Toss Competition.
