What a difference 2 weeks makes

Keith Waterhouse

What a difference 2 weeks makes.  Our original plan was to do a fitness eval in the beginning, then at 4, 8 and 12 weeks.  Well after 4 weeks moderate progress was made.  I fained pleaseure but deep down I was dissapointed.  Well Christian decided to do another one today which is the 6 week or half way mark.  Well in the last 2 weeks we just about matched the 4 week numbers.  It was amazing.  I guess the point is the first 2 weeks we were not getting a lot accomplished but now the engine has kicked it in.  You never know when that is going to happen.

The cardio level continues to improve..  I did 1,000 calories of cadio on Monday.  I got 500 calories in 24:21 on the elliptical at the end of the work out which was pretty good.  The thing I am most happy about is I started Monday on the treadmill.  I started walking and had burned about 100 calories and I thought I feel pretty good.  So I started jogging...hmm no pain...kept jogging...hmmm not winded....kept jogging.....feel pretty good....Keep in mind I could only do a minute 4 weeks ago....Are you ready for this....Well 15 minutes and a mile and a half later I stopped and I think I could have gone further.  Are you flippin Kidding me....  Not going to win any races...but I might finish one.  Small victories.  I am honestly thinking about a 5k race this summer just to see if I can do it.  Did I just write that?  Oh and my strength has increased dramatically as well.

I can honestly say this is the best condition I have been in the past 15 years and we did it in 6 weeks.  I can not wait for the next 6 weeks.  Anybody can do this.  I have not shared this before but I was close to 290 lbs. this winter.  My whole body hurt.  I had knee surgery in Novemeber.  Then on March 1st I woke up about 4 in the morning with excruciating chest pain.  I thought I was having a heart attack.  I am a typical hard headed prideful man.  I would not let my wife call 911.  Stupid..yes...but she is a paramedic/Fire fighter.  She took me to the fire station down the street who in turn took me directly to the hospital.  The good news is it was not a heart attack.  The bad news was my gall bladder had become septic and ruptured.  My whole nody was infected and sick and my heart was flipping out.  I spent 9 days in the hospital and 4 in intensive care.  The doctor said if I had waited I probably would not have pulled through.  I could not eat for a couple of weeks.  I was so drained that I could hardly get through the day.  By 8:00 it was nighty night.  I had only been cleared to exercise a couple of weeks when I started this program.  I had absolutley no endurance when we started.  I write this to let everyone know you can do this.  No excuses....My personal email is .  If I can help anyone please do not hesitate to contact me.

I am so blessed to have been chosen for this contest.  Thanks to Fitness Together Mountain Brook.  Thanks to Christian Crocker my one on one trainer.  I have learned so much.  Thanks to Healthy Connections.
