Get Your Friends and Family involved

Beth Gregory

I wanted to thank some of the people who continue to inspire me daily.  Many of you don’t know but my son (4 months) was in Children’s hospital the night Rodney called to tell me I would be a participant in the Biggest Loser Competition!  Many thoughts of doubt came over me and I was worried with all we had going on with our son and other children I may not last in this competition. My dearest friend Jenny W. came to the hospital to be with us, and I told her my news of being picked to do this competition.  Her immediate reaction was “I’ll do it with you”. And she did, the next day she called Healthy Connections told them she wanted to do the food with me and we would lose weight together.  She started out doing only lunch and dinner and within 2 weeks of seeing what I
was having for breakfast she began ordering breakfast, lunch and dinner!  Jenny also started walking with me every night she was in town!  How wonderful to have such a special friend that would diet and work out with me, without ANY complaining!  Also my sweet husband from day one has inspired me like no one else could.  Drue doesn’t complain when he is left with the kids while I walk, or go to the gym.  On the days Jenny is out of town and can’t walk, he straps on his tennis shoes and off we go together there is just something wonderful about working out with your spouse I LOVE IT!  My girls are so inspired as well, My oldest Alexis will see me eating and say “Is that Healthy Connections?”, My 4 year old wants to be healthy so everything she eats or drinks she will ask is this Healthy? Even though both girls still eat JUNK they are more aware of healthier choices and now limit their soda intake to one a day and have increased their water intake.

I read Karl’s Blog entry and saw his wife will be joining him in the gym and I just want to say that is AWSOME! I LOVE IT!
What a reward to have your spouse working out with you!  This is something both of you will be able to continue long after this competition is over.

If you could just inspire one person to change their lives I would say go to them and do it!  We know how it feels to have clothes that don’t fit and feeling tired, run down.  Find someone in your office, neighborhood or ballpark and ask them to walk with you.  It may be all they need to become inspired and challenged to change their lives!
