Former Auburn swimmer Eric Shanteau became the third Tiger to make the 2008 Olympic swimming team Thursday night, as he finished second in the men’s 200m breaststroke with a 2:10.36 at the Qwest Center.

Former Auburn All-American Maurice Smith will join three other former Tigers on Jamaica’s 51-member track and field squad named by the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association on Tuesday for the Olympic Games in Beijing next month. 

Auburn freshman golfer Sarah Thead was named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team.

One can make many memories over a lifetime of golf, and in his 50th year in the sport Bob Dumas made a big one last weekend.

The lifelong, 54-year-old Auburn resident and former Auburn University golfer brought home the Alabama State Senior Amateur Golf Championship, shooting a 4-under 68 in the final round to overtake two competitors.
