Cesar Cielo and Brett Hawke aren’t brothers. But they sure act like it.

With a roster that boasts 17 returning letter winners off of the 2007 NCAA Tournament squad, the Auburn soccer team began fall practice on Thursday with an early morning and late afternoon practice. 

Auburn head cross country coach Peter Watson announced the addition of five newcomers, one transfer and four freshmen, to the men’s roster for the 2008 season.

Auburn’s Cory Martin has been named the 2008 Division I Men’s Outdoor Field Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, and six Tigers were named to the organization’s All-Academic Track and Field Teams, the USTFCCCA announced Wednesday.

Four current and five former Auburn golfers will be teeing off Monday in the U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier held at the par-72, 7,326-yard Auburn University Club at Yarbrough Farms. 

MINNEAPOLIS — Auburn’s Ava Ohlgren won her third medal of the meet Saturday as the rising junior finished second in the 200m individual medley at the U.S. Open.

The Auburn softball program has added former University of North Carolina at Pembroke head coach Steve Johnson as an assistant coach to work with hitters, slappers and infielders.

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Auburn’s Ava Ohlgren secured a spot on the U.S. National Team for the 2009 World University Games on Wednesday night as she won the 400m individual medley at the 2008 U.S. Open.

The United States maintained its two-point lead following the second round of the 33rd annual Fuji Xerox USA vs. Japan Collegiate Championship at the Tokyo Golf Club. The two teams split the day’s singles matches to give Team USA a 19-17 lead.
