The Auburn equestrian team (6-1) defeated Texas A&M, 11-9, at the Auburn Equestrian Center on Saturday to take the second home meet of the spring.
The Tigers defeated the Aggies, 6-4, in Western and tied, 5-5, in Hunt Seat.
“This was a great win for us,” said Auburn head coach Greg Williams. “Beating the defending National Champions in Western was awesome. I am tickled that our Reiners performed so effectively.”
“Our Hunt Seat rode well, but was too conservative. Our Reiners really picked up the slack. Overall, the girls did a great job to improve our program.”
Auburn next travels to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks on Feb. 9 at 10 a.m.
Gymnastics travels for quad-meet today
The Auburn gymnastics team (0-3, 0-3 SEC) will travel to Raleigh, NC, to take on N.C. State, George Washington and Texas Women’s University in a quad-meet.
The meet, hosted by N.C. State, will be held at Reynolds Coliseum today at noon.
“It is going to be a four-ring circus this weekend,” said Auburn head coach Jeff Thompson. “With everything rolling at the same time, we don’t have to wait for judges on other events. You put up the score and the next gymnast is ready to go.
“It’s similar to what we do in the gym for our intra-squad.”
Auburn, ranked No. 16 by GymInfo, is also ranked in all four of the events; vault (13), beam (19), bars (22) and floor (19).
The Wolfpack is ranked at No. 20 on vault, 16 on bars and 18 on floor.
