BIRMINGHAM — Auburn’s Taryn Gray doubled and homered to help lead the Tigers’ softball team to a 7-3 victory over Samford on Wednesday night.
Auburn improved to 16-3 with the victory, while Samford dropped to 8-12 with the loss. Freshman Lauren Schmalz moved to 3-0 in earning the win.
Schmalz threw three innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on two hits. She fanned five.
Kayla Burris took the loss for Samford, dropping to 5-4.
Anna Thompson notched her first save of the season.
