GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Auburn fell in its series finale at Florida, 6-2, on Sunday afternoon at McKethan Stadium.

Florida scored a run in the first on an RBI single and then added three more in the fourth on two doubles, a single and an error to hand Cory Luckie (2-2) the loss. Luckie surrendered six hits but did extended his streak of innings without issuing a walk to 18.1.

Justin Hargett and Hunter Morris each had two-hit games for Auburn, which fell to 11-8, 0-3 SEC.

Florida improved to 14-3, 3-0 SEC as Tommy Toledo (3-0) went 6.0 innings, holding Auburn to two hits and four walks, striking out two.

Clint Franklin earned his first save of the year by throwing the final 3.0 innings, allowing two unearned runs on five hits.

“We did not have good at-bats today,” Auburn head coach Tom Slater said. “We hit too many fly balls and not enough line-drives. When we hit the ball on the ground, things started happening.”

Morris’s first-inning double gave him at least one extra-base hit for the 10th time in 19 games.

Hargett’s seventh-inning two-out single extended his team-leading hitting streak to eight games while Morris has hit safely in six straight and went 7-for-12 in the series with Florida.

“Hunter is a special, special player. There is a reason Hunter was a second-round draft pick and he is showing people that he can hit. He has great plate discipline and he never chases a bad pitch. He sees the ball really well,” Slater said.

Auburn stays on the road for its next game, traveling to Troy on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. game.
