Auburn’s Ohlgren finishes seventh in 100-meter butterfly at U.S. Open

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Auburn’s Ava Ohlgren made her fourth final of the week as she finished seventh in the 100m butterfly Thursday at the U.S. Open.

Ohlgren, who earned a spot on the 2009 U.S. World University Games team after her win in the 400m IM on Wednesday, clocked a time of 1:00.64 in the 100m fly to finish seventh overall.

Also competing in the 100m fly was Andrew Mitchell as he finished eighth in the C Final, 24th overall, with a time of 55.78.

Robert Looney was also in action on Thursday, swimming in the preliminary of the men’s 400m freestyle. Looney touched in with a time of 4:03.23 to finish 41st overall in the event.

The U.S. Open started Tuesday and runs until Saturday at the Minnesota Aquatics Center. The meet will continue today with prelims beginning at 9 a.m., and finals beginning at 6 p.m.

The men’s and women’s 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke, 100m backstroke and the women’s 800m freestyle relay will be contested. For complete results and highlights, visit http://www.usaswimming.org
