Auburn senior Jorja Bell has been named to the Southeastern Conference Softball Community Service Team, it was announced by the league office Thursday.
The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 20 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to her community in superior service efforts.
Bell, a native of Auckland, New Zealand, is an officer in the Auburn Student Athlete Advisory Committee and has coordinated the efforts for the local canned food drive and Toys for Tots campaign. In addition, Bell participated in the sportsmanship initiative for All Auburn All Athletes and the Auburn Halloween Fest.
“We are certainly proud of Jorja and the effort she has put into her community service projects,” Auburn head coach Tina Deese said. “That is an important part of the college experience and helps to make student-athletes well-rounded individuals.”
Other members of the team included Jordan Praytor of Alabama, Dayna Huckabee of Arkansas, Mary Ratliff of Florida, Melissa Wood of Georgia, Ashley Dimkich of Kentucky, Shannon Stein of LSU, Courtnie Ghinaudo of Ole Miss, Hayle Guess of Mississippi State, Ashton Payne of South Carolina and Lillian Hammond of Tennessee.
