Birmingham-area Tigers Taryn Gray and Kyndall White will lead the Auburn softball team into a 6:30 p.m. game against the Samford Bulldogs today at Bulldog Field.

Auburn enters the game with a 15-3 record, having just competed in the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga., this past weekend. The Tigers went 3-2 at the tournament, picking up wins over Georgia Tech, Charlotte and Syracuse.

Samford is 8-11 on the season and will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak.

The Tigers hold a 9-6 series advantage over Samford. The teams last played in 2006, with Auburn coming away with a 1-0 victory. Auburn has a 5-3 mark against the Bulldogs in Birmingham, but have lost the last three consecutive games played at Bulldog Field. Samford won 1-0 in Birmingham in 2003 in the last home meeting with the Tigers.

Burnside, Greinke placed on Clemens Watch List
Auburn had a pair of pitchers placed on the initial 2008 Roger Clemens Award Watch List, announced the Greater Houston Baseball Association on Tuesday.

Greinke, who will start today’s contest against Davidson, is currently 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA. This is the second time that he has appeared on the list, also garnering attention in 2006.

Burnside, who has yet to pitch a game for Auburn in ’08 after suffering an injury in the preseason, owns a lifetime record of 9-4 with a 3.79 ERA.

He has appeared on the list during both his freshman and sophomore seasons.
