Sophomore Kevin Patterson and junior Joseph Sanders were both recognized for their solid summers playing in the Cape Cod League as the duo was named to the All-League Team on Tuesday.

Patterson, who was previously named an All-Star in the league, was selected as the DH, while Sanders was named as a utility player.

Patterson spent the summer with the Cotuit Kettleers and was named the team MVP at the close of the season, hitting .296 in 40 games.

Sanders helped his Harwich Mariners squad to its first league title in 21 years, hitting .273 in 42 games, registering a team-best 11 doubles, four homers and 17 RBI.

Bonner named to watch list
The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association, on behalf of the Wade Coalition, announced the 2008-09 preseason “Wade Watch” list for the State Farm Wade Trophy Division I Player of the Year on Tuesday. Auburn senior DeWanna Bonner was included on the 25-member list.

The 2009 State Farm Wade Trophy winner will be announced at the WBCA National Convention held in conjunction with the NCAA Women’s Final Four in St. Louis, Mo., April 3-7, 2009.

Gymnasts ready for season
Auburn’s gymnastics team returned to the gym to gear up for the 2009 season.
Tigers return nine to its squad, but new faces are abundant, with eight freshmen joining the team.

A trio of seniors are entering their final season, including last year’s co-SEC Gymnast of the Year Lindsey Puckett.

The Tigers officially begin practice Sept. 7, and open the 2009 campaign Jan. 4, at Illinois-Chicago.
