The Auburn baseball team comes into tonight’s game against Troy needing to pick up some momentum.
The Tigers also need to pick up a win.
After dropping two of three to rival Alabama in Tuscaloosa this past weekend, Auburn has fallen to 11th in the SEC standings. Even though tonight’s contest, which begins at 6 p.m. at Plainsman Park, is a non-conference matchup, a win is paramount.
The Tigers are 18-10 at home this season and 24-21 overall with a home series against Mississippi State coming up this weekend. Troy is 26-19 on the year.
Starting tonight for Auburn will be sophomore right-hander Taylor Thompson (2-4, 6.59 ERA), who pitched well against the Crimson Tide, not allowing a run in four innings of work.
Troy will counter with senior right-hander Rob Brown (2-2, 4.28). Tonight’s game, which is Two Dollar Tuesday, is the final non-conference home game for the Tigers.
