This Franklin native attends the University of Alabama. Whitney would like to make Miss America a more relevant figure to her peers by bringing Miss America to more youth focused shows like “American Idol”. She would also like to implement mandatory hearing and vision screenings for all children. Whitney is working to bring the hearing and vision problems to the attention of parents, administrators, and educators. Her personal experience inspired her to bring this problem to light. Whitney went through ten years of school before her need for hearing aids was realized.

Whitney…..WOW!!!! Way to go tonight. You looked great in that swimsuit! When you came on stage first thing tonight, you showed so much confidence in your walk. I knew you had an advantage right then. Like I said, keep smiling and shining. It shows! And the crowd loves you. Can you hear everybody from all over the place cheering for you? Just one more night, honey, and you can do it!!
