Bush-McCain, but Bush-Obama?

Posted by on 10/15 at 04:18 PM

One of the things you’re likely to hear a lot of tonight from Barack Obama is how much John McCain is “like” President Bush. Variations on the theme may include:

  • Obama’s assertion that McCain has voted with the president 95 percent of the time;

  • An argument along the lines that McCain’s proposals mirror policies advanced by the Bush Administration;

  • A statement about how futile it is to do the same old things and expect a different result;

    ... and so on.

    Well, conservative writer Tara Wall, deputy editorial page editor and columnist for The Washington Times, produced a column this week entitled, “Obama and Bush are not so far apart.”

    You may think that comparison requires the willing suspension of disbelief, but Wall offers a list of 20 items—alphabetized for your convenience—as proof.

    CNN even promoted the article under the headline, “20 ways Obama is like Bush.”

    The issues include energy, FISA and offshore drilling.

    Read Wall’s column here.

    No word on whether the McCain campaign has seen it yet.
