Incoming Freshman, Audresha Pogue, Speculates about The Opelika High Experience

My year in eighth grade at Opelika Middle School has gone by fast. I am going to be a ninth grader at Opelika High School next year! This will be an exciting year. There are lots of things I’m expecting. I can’t wait to take cool classes with my friends, although I will have to make sure I get my work done! Most teens my age would be scared to go to a new school where they know just a few people, but I’m not. I can’t wait!

Opelika High School will give me new opportunities. There will be lots of cool things to do at the high school. I’ll get to take new exploratory classes and take part in interesting extracurricular activities. I will have the chance to figure out for myself what it is that I want to do when I graduate.

Oh there are probably things people are worried about when they enter their first year at high school. I guess the only things that I am worried about are the teachers I will have, and keeping my grades up while still finding time to hang out with my friends. There are always going to be times in my life when I must adapt to something different. But I know that my first year at Opelika High School will be a great change!

OHS Bound! DeVante Reese is on his way and looking forward to it!

I feel good about going to Opelika High School because you get to meet new people and have different surroundings. Also in high school you get more opportunities to do things. Yet the thing I am most nervous about is when I walk in those doors for the first time. People are going to make you feel different because they are upper classmen. I’m also nervous about the way people will judge you before they even know you.

However I’m excited about going because it will give me time to mature and become more responsible. My goals in high school are to play football and make the wrestling team. Those are my goals because I want to be remembered as an Opelika Bulldog! I’m looking forward to becoming a successful freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior at Opelika High School. I believe that I can succeed at all levels of high school. It feels great to enter my last years of education in Opelika because Opelika has a great educational program. I am proud to know that I will be a part of Opelika High School. Go Dawgs!
