Dear Editors,

I nominate my mother for your Mother of the Year Award. She should win because when I fell off my bike, she helped me get up. One time I fell off my skateboard and she helped me up. I was crying. One time I was playing football and it hit me in the arm. It hurt me. My mom checked on me. She made me feel better.

Sincerely,

Dear Editors,

I nominate my mother for your Mother of the Year Award. She should win because she is so nice! She loves my dad, my sister and me. She is intelligent and kind. My mom is generous. One day I fell and was crying and my mom helped me. My mom does almost everything at my house. On New Years she gave me a necklace she bought with her own money. My mom is so gentle with animals. One day a little bird fell from a tree and my mom carefully picked it up. She helped the bird. Three days later, the bird got better. It was all because of my mom. My mom is so nice. I love her.

Sincerely,
Laura Perez

Dear Editors,

I nominate my mother for your Mother of the Year Award. She should win because when I fell off my bike, she helped me up.  My mom lays down with me at night. She fixes me breakfast in the morning.  She sings me prayers at night.

Dear Editors,

I nominate my mother for your Mother of the Year Award. She should win because she always helps me with everything!  For Christmas she bought us a gingerbread house for us to make! When I’m sad, she always makes me feel better! One time when I fell and I went to her, she fixed me up and made sure I was OK! She takes care of me when I’m sick!

Sincerely,

Whitney Finley, 16 years old

My mother, Carolyn Elaine Finley is the most amazing vibrant women and mother you will ever meet. She has supported me and been there for me when no one else would.  I am blessed to have the most loving and caring mother in the world.  My mother is my truest friend I have. She is there for me when trials and burdens get heavy and fall upon me; when those who claim to be my friends desert me; and when adversity takes the place of prosperity.
I am so glad to know that when trouble knocks on my door she will be there to answer with me. With my mother by my side I will never feel sad, never be lonely, but always loved. My mother is my rock and foundation, I know with her I will never fall. She always makes sure we are feed and well clothed and I love and appreciate that.  She has raised all three of her children and still has unconditional love for us. There is no one in the universe like a mother who can help you when you are confused; hold you when you cry; pick you up when you fall, and even guide you through it all. I love my mother with all my heart, she gives me hope to keep going strong and I just want to say thank you for all you have done.
There are not enough words to explain what my mother has been to me. She knows everything about me and still does not judge me. My mother goes out her way just to help even when she does not have enough to help herself. I remember watching my mother eat cereal and cheese toast while we were all eating steak. I know my mother will always be there for me because she will never turn her back on me and I know that.  I wish everyone in the world had a chance to experience a mother like mine. I pray to God that one day I will be a great mother like mine.

Dear Editors,

My mom should be Mother of the Year.  She is nice and generous. She is as sweet as she can be. She has never been depressed. She has only been happy. If somebody is crying, my mom will hug her and ask that person what happened and say, “That’s ok.” My mom takes care of my brother, who is handicapped.  She will take care of you, too. If you need help, my mom will help with everything. Every holiday she gives presents to people. My mom is as funny as a clown. She will make everyone laugh. She even made my head hurt because I laughed so hard because she is so funny! When we moved here from Korea last year, I was very sad. I missed Korea. My mom made me read and learn English. During summer vacation she took me to the library every day. She makes me work very hard in school.

I hope my mom will be the Mother of the Year. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Jenny Park

Mothers by Jarvis Ashmore, 5th Grade

Mothers, aren’t they the best thing in the universe? Especially on Mother’s Day. Let me describe to you how my mom looks, sounds and feels. Come on and let’s go pick some flowers.

My mom looks like she’s fresh from the dryer and she always will. Plus, she’s bright as a street light. Every mom is supposed to bring peace in the world like trying to talk us out of dangerous stuff or something like that.

She sounds beautiful like a singer. She has all the fancy records. She never been a drug addict that’s why she sings well for one reason.

She smells like a brand new piece of candy or fruit. She has perfume on everyday so she can smell good for church and graduation day on May 9 for my sister.  It’s hard to describe to you how my mom looks sounds and feels. I hope you can see how wonderful she is and she loves me and I love her.  Happy Mothers Day!

I love my Mom! By Wyneshia 5th Grade

Do you have the best Mom? Well, I do. I’m going to explain why my mom is the best. She makes me happy. She helps me with my problems and she is the best mom.

First, I am going to explain why she makes me happy.  She makes me happy because she is always by my side and is going to be with me forever and ever.  She always takes care of me when I’m sick and lonely.

Second, I’m going to explain why she’s the best mom. She is the best mom because of the man above and you know who that is. God. He made her the way I wanted her.

Now, do you know why she is the best mom?  I just explained to you why she is the best mom.  She makes me happy, she helps me with my problems and she is the best mom. I have to give my mom her present. “HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!”

My Mom’s The Best! by Mallorie Jenkins, 5th Grade

Mothers! Aren’t they the best things in the world? Well, my mom is! Sit down and relax and I will explain to you about my mom.

The first thing I’m going to explain to you is how my mom is the BEST!  She is the best because she does everything for me and my brother as a mom could do like cooking us good meals, cleaning our clothes, taking the best care of us, taking us to our hobbies, and most of all, giving us all her love. Another reason she’s the best is because she helps us with our homework and other important things in our life. She is the best mom because she works really hard to keep us healthy and pays the bills so that we can have water and light and all that stuff.

The second thing I’m going to explain to you is how loving my mom can be. She tells us she loves us when we wake up, she tells us she loves us when we get home from school, she tells us she loves us when we go to bed, and ofcourse when we are talking on the phone. You know…my mom’s just a lvong machine!

The last thing I’m going to explain to you is how much my mom cares for us. My mom means the world to me! She cares for me by feeding me, taking me places. I don’t know what I would do without my mom.

Now you see why my mom is the best mom ever! I just explained to you how my mom is the best mom ever, how loving she is, and how caring she is.

“Happy Mothers Day!”

THE BEST MOTHER IN EAST ALABAMA, BY ALEEM AHMED, 15
It was March 9, 1993. Dad waited anxiously as Mom was wheeled into surgery. Not yet born, I longed to see daylight! For nine months, Mom had been toting me around everywhere she went. It was cramped and dark—I yearned for open space. However, I must admit, it was cozy and comfy.
Suddenly, I felt a lurch. A pair of hands in green gloves came at me. I shut my eyes and was slapped, poked, and pinched. I yelled and screamed at the top of my voice. This was my first encounter with the world. However, Mom was right there to provide warmth and comfort. Famished, I yearned for McDonalds, but Mom offered me a healthy, natural drink instead. I returned the favor with a stinky mess and sleepless nights.
Mom has always been my teacher and trainer. When I was a “Terrible Two,” she taught me to walk and talk, and kept me on a blue leash with one end tied to her wrist—setting my boundaries. From the ABCs through high school, Mom carried a carrot in one hand and stick in the other. From being a two-legged homeschool teacher to four-wheeled car to flying carpet, Mom has the magical skill to transport me to appearances and presentations, classes and camps across the country.
The Manufacturer made my Mom small and petite, with antennas, motion detectors, sound sensors, and eyes in the back of her head. Mom’s monitors beep at my health irregularities, summoning her to a 24-7 caretaker’s shift. She senses my emotions and comes to my aid as a counselor, and detects any problems I encounter, and works tirelessly to fix them.
My nourisher before birth, teacher, trainer, car, flying carpet, watchful protector, counselor, and mentor, my Mom is not only a “Super-mom,” she is the best mom in East Alabama.
