The Shoeless Joes never gave up and clawed our way to the 2008 Mighty Baseball League championship, marking my first fantasy baseball crown since 1999 and fourth overall in this prestigious 12-franchise league founded in 1992 in Columbus, Ga., by a group of sports journalists.
Yes, above is my team logo, which pretty much represented my emotions during the season that involved hardships and injuries. But we overcame the odds and overtook the likes of espn.com’s Mark Schlabach, and Associated Press sports gurus George Henry and Charles Odum, proudly representing the Atlanta bureau.
Finally, my franchise can enjoy the fruits of victory and breathe a deep sigh of relief. I will say I am most pleased with this championship than all others as I had to claw, scratch, fight and dig my way to the title. Roy Oswalt and Derek Lowe helped too
Until next spring’s auction draft within private quarters inside the confines of Dantanna’s Sports Bar in Buckhead, I bid farewell to this season and forget about baseball for a while.
