Coming Soon! NBC13HD Throws A Wedding 2008

Wedding SmileJohn and Carolyn were married on NBC13HD in 2005

Engagement:

We first met through a mutual friend in a running group.  After dating for four years we were engaged on the Isle of Capri, Italy.  John pre-arranged a surprise engagement to take place in the Blue Grotto (ours was the last boat allowed in the grotto that day as the water was rising extremely fast).  Approximately ten tour boats sounded their horns in celebration when we exited the Blue Grotto and John exclaimed “She said YES!”

The Wedding:

The event took place at the historic Rucker Place (originally planned in their garden area).  It was a beautiful sunrise but with the temperature below 18 degrees, adjustments were hurriedly made and the wedding was moved inside, which was cozy and rewarding to all participants   Family members made up the wedding party and the wedding went off beautifully.  Over 200 guests packed inside the Rucker Place to help us celebrate at that cold, early hour!

Major Life Events that first year:

Honeymoon:

We had to delay our honeymoon due to our work schedules and the fact that we were attending the Iron Bowl (Auburn & Alabama football game) the day after our wedding.  We went on the weekend trip provided by NBC 13 to the Sand Destin Hilton a couple of months after the wedding.  We celebrated our official honeymoon after our first anniversary in Nice, France.

Today:

Carolyn is enjoying her professorship in Kinesiology at the University of Montevallo and John is the Shelby County Regional President of BankTrust. We enjoy living in Montevallo, the small town setting where we have a host of friends and neighbors. Everyone seems to be close and supportive to each other. As you may recall, John grew up in Montevallo and continues the camaraderie with his old classmates of years gone by.

When time allows from everyone’s busy schedule, we love to visit with John’s three Daughters and their family, (which includes six Grandchildren), and Carolyn’s Mother, (Mrs. Ginna Miller of Oneonta) and Brother’s family, (Dr. Noah Miller and Vicki of Gadsden).
