Team Leah Having Fun!!!!!!!!!
Leah Hassard
I can’t believe it’s only been six days and how much better I feel. The first night was rough, I told my four year old son that I needed to lay down for a minute at 7 pm and the next thing I knew it was 3:am. He had a ice cream party and was found safely asleep on the sofa. The food from Healthy Connections has been great and is so convenient. They do a wonderful job packaging and make everything so simple. Brett, Joe and the one that almost killed me today have been so very helpful and patient. I can’t believe how much better you feel when you exercise. Looking forward to getting on the scale Thursday-
Do you think I need Team Leah shirts made??????

Rick Norris / Day 6
Rick Norris
Wow! It is hard to believe I have gone six days without even a Hershey Bar,M&M’s,or Twinkie.Day one started with the adventure of finding a scale with the capacity to weigh me.With that accomplished and depression setting in I limped over to Fitness Together 150 for my first wokout with Josh Bottoms.I have not been involved in an organized exercise program in almost 30 years and was fearful that I would begin to cry during the workout or even worse break the treadmill or stationary bike.Josh,Glenn, and Brett have all been great. They have been demanding but have understood and worked with my limitations. Each workout they have been upbeat and patient while driven to help me achieve all my goals.I could not imagine a more positive workout experience and am thankful to Josh,Glen, and owner,Brett Garrison for this wonderful opportunity.
While I have not found any pie, cake,or cookies in my Healthy Connections bag I have found the menus to be varied and the food to be fresh, filling and well prepared.Healthy Connections has taken the guess work out of portion size, food groups and calorie intake.I am now looking forward rather than dreading my weekly weigh in on Thursday. Thanks to Paige Pinson for the enjoyable meals and providing a workable alternative to my stuff and gorge diet.
Got to go as it is almost time for my afternoon workout.Check back each day as I inch closer to the title of Birminghams Biggest Loser.

Day 6 and going strong
Heather Cantwell
Well, we are on day 6 of the Birmingham Loser competition. I’m doing a whole lot better than I thought I would!! The motivation and encouragement that I’ve gotten from family and friends is amazing!! Thank you to everyone who has called, sent email, and text messages - your encouragement really helps me stay focused. Fitness Together is wonderful. The staff is always so friendly and although they are working my butt off (literally) I’m enjoying it. The food from Healthy Connections is also great. I LOVED the tamali pie that I had for dinner last night. I am so excited about this program. The competitive nature also helps me stay on track - I mean… who doesn’t love a healthy competition?? Well I guess I’ll sign off now - thanks for reading.

Keith Waterhouse/day 6

I have to tell you that I was an avid weight lifter in my younger days and felt I had a pretty good knowledge around the gym. However, Christian from Fitness Together Mountain Brook is the most knowledgeable person I have ever met when it comes to the physiology of the body. The whole staff and even the other people working out in the gym are super nice and supportive. The training has been very demanding but great. The first day I had to hit the bathroom (Yep, I got sick) but I kept going. One of the great things is the training is specific to me and works around prior weaknesses and injuries. Today was a killer cardio day. I can’t say enough good things about FT. I will tell you invest in some Advil. Sitting down to go to the rest room has never been such an adventure. Stairs....Not good. I can already tell a difference after a week in my cardio level. I am able to do more with less rest. However, it is a long road.
Healthy Connection Rocks. Dieting is so hard because of the trouble of trying to figure out meal plans and portions and the whole stress of what can I eat. They take that whole obstacle out of the way. I think it is a revolutionary concept. The food is quick, easy and surprisingly good. it is real food. The dieting has not been an issue. I have been able to stick with it. I am already losing weight. Tomorrow will be a week on the diet. Looking forward to hitting the scales and seeing the progress. I will keep you posted.

Dennis Carver /Day 5
Dennis Carver
It is day five of my journey with The Birmingham Losers. The first cardio and the first workout was tough.I was even sore the day after the evaluation on day one! But I already feel better during and after exercising.Luan,Krissi and the others at Fitness Together-Vestavia have been super. They are so knowledgeable and have really made me feel like I have known them for a long time. The encouragement from my family, friends and coworkers has been great. The meals are very good and I have 100% stuck to the meals. The only problem I have had is a couple of nights I could not eat it all, haven’t had that problem very much. Not even a week yet and I am already looking forward to exercise.Even walked on my treadmill Sunday(It had been very lonely).I thought I had worked out before, but this is a new and rewarding feeling when you go further than you thought you ever could.I know I have a long journey ahead but I am ready for the trip.
